On this #MemorialDay, we honor and remember those who courageously gave their lives for our country. 🇺🇸

Did you know the @PurdueMemorialUnion was named to recognize the thousands of Boilermakers who enlisted in World War I? The black and gold tile cross in the center of the Great Hall was laid to honor and remember the 67 Purdue students who gave their lives in the war. Since then, countless Boilermakers have gone on to fight for our country, and their memory is made permanent within the walls of the Great Hall.
The Purdue Board of Trustees voted Monday morning to approve the appointment of Mitch Daniels to serve as interim president of Purdue University. He succeeds Mung Chiang, who will become president of Northwestern University on July 1.

“President Chiang has led Purdue forward in a host of important ways, and it’s essential that the momentum he has generated be maintained. If the board believes that recalling me to active duty temporarily can help in this respect, no one as devoted to this institution as I am could say anything but yes.”
Not every Indy 500 rookie drives a race car. 🏁🥛

Meet Purdue alum Brian Rexing — Indiana dairy farmer, proud Boilermaker dad and this year’s #Indy500 milk rookie. From early mornings on the farm to race day at the Speedway, he’s helping carry on one of racing’s most beloved traditions.
The roar of the engines, the energy of the crowd and Boilermaker spirit running throughout. It’s a great day to be at @indianapolismotorspeedway!
Did you know that Gus Grissom was such a big racing fan that he and fellow astronaut Gordon Cooper started a racing team with Indianapolis 500 champ Jim Rathmann and entered a car in the 1966 #Indy500? 🏎️

Their car failed to qualify in the 500, but did earn two top 10 finishes that season.
